Vehicle Department

The municipal corporation has a total of 100 vehicles. The current vehicles are used for fire extinguishing, general purposes, health services, veterinary health services, gardening and afforestation department, including cars, tempos, tractors, mobile jeeps, Mahindra Maximo, ambulance, hearse, as well as vehicles for fire extinguishing services like a requeiner, water tender, and tanker. These vehicles are utilized for administrative purposes, health department, veterinary health department, fire extinguishing department, gardening and afforestation department, and water conservation department.

The need for the current vehicles is assessed by providing standard documents. Under the jurisdiction of the municipal corporation, vehicles are provided to drivers with fuel (along with maintenance services) through a yearly contract after competitive bidding and fixation of a reasonable annual rate. Additionally, in the essential services of the municipal corporation such as fire extinguishing department, veterinary health department, gardening and afforestation department, three shifts of vehicle work are available, and the vehicle operators of the permanent corporation are provided with vehicles on a contractual basis through a fixed-term contract, along with providing adequate salaries considering market rates and the contracted vehicle operator.

The municipal corporation officials and employees use vehicles under their jurisdiction for municipal work and use their own vehicles. A vehicle allowance is paid per vehicle to department heads, executives, veterinary executives, and junior officers as per the decision of the standing committee.

  • Processing applications for grants.
  • Purchase as per the requirement.
  • Inventorying vehicles.
  • Registration in the stock register.
  • Take note of the registration numbers 127 (Logbook) and 126 (Fuelbook).
  • Payment of dues.
  • Other miscellaneous tasks.
  • Temporary vehicle operator expenses.
  • General administration, fuel/vehicle maintenance.
  • Temporary security/safety guard/driver.
  • Health department, fuel/vehicle maintenance.
  • Hospital fuel/vehicle maintenance.
  • Hire of temporary vehicles.
  • Vehicle allowance for officials/executives.
  • Vehicle insurance amount.
  • Categorization and maintenance of vehicles for each department.
