Tax Department

Tax Department

Badlapur is a historic city in the suburbs, boasting a glorious past, continuous development, and a promising future. Since 1992, the Badlapur Municipal Council has been managing the city's administration, providing services to its citizens. The development of any city depends on a logical and hassle-free evaluation and tax collection system.

Property tax is one of the main sources of revenue for the Badlapur Municipal Council and contributes significantly to all the municipal services provided - whether it's good roads, hospitals, parks, or public transport facilities. The Property Tax Department of the Badlapur Municipal Council manages the complete evaluation, consolidation, and billing of all properties under its jurisdiction. Currently, the property tax database includes registrations of 1.5 lakh properties.

Property tax is a charge imposed by the government on an individual's real or personal property. The property is assessed to give it a value, and a tax is levied on this value. Currently, the tax rate is applied to the property's fair market value to determine the amount of tax due. Property tax (or millage tax) is levied on the property and must be paid by the owner.

The Property Tax Department levies tax on the following types of properties:

  • Residential houses (owned or rented).
  • Office buildings.
  • Factory buildings.
  • Warehouses.
  • Flats.
  • Vacant plots.
  • Shops.
  • In the year 2022-23, new properties were assessed, resulting in an increase of ₹2.10 crores in property taxes, which is an increase of 11.3%.
