Birth & Death Department

Registration of births and deaths under the Births and Deaths Registration Act, 1969, is mandatory within 21 days of the occurrence. Failure to register births and deaths is considered detrimental. If the birth or death occurs in a hospital or at home within the jurisdiction of the Municipal Corporation's respective ward (ward committee), the concerned ward (ward committee) office is responsible for registering the birth or death.
